Ile Nigeria Graduate Collection My AW20 final collection is titled “Ile Nigeria” which means house of Nigeria. It is inspired by famous Nigerian artists Chidi Okoye’s paintings which shows the beauty and culture of Nigeria. As a Nigerian growing up in Ireland I tend to think about who I am and wear I come from as Irish culture is very prominent. I wanted to use my collection as an opportunity to make Nigerian culture more prominent and learn more about myself and family in Nigeria. The collection features digital printed patterns and knitted textiles which were developed through family photos and elements inspired from Okoye’s work. The prints and knitted textiles I have produced also help to create a vibrant feel to my collection which I achieved successfully. This collection is for any cultural enthusiast who loves a mixture of vibrant colours and has an appreciation of creative textiles.
